Dayton High School

Dayton High School is very proud of its academic accomplishments.  DISD has
placed either first or second in district University Interscholastic League Literary
Competition for the last 16 years.

Dayton High School has had state winners every year at the state U.I.L. competition

The Dayton Academic Decathlon team has achieved a winning record.

EDUCATION HIGHLIGHTS

  • In Texas, schools are labeled as to size, going from the smallest, class 1A to 5A.  Dayton High School is classified as 4A
  • DISD Students have access to 1400 computers
  • $4.3 million in grants for technology innovation
  • In the past five years, Dayton High School students have received 57 AP Scholar Awards.
  • In the past five years, Dayton High School has had TWO Commended National Merit Scholars and ONE National Merit Scholarship Finalist
  • Dayton High School student can graduate with 33 semester hours of college credit
  • Region IV will use DISD as a pilot site for developing curriculum for gifted and talented students
  • 2001-2002 qualifying seventh grade students can begin earning high school credit
  • Received state Academics 2000 Reading Grant of $232,000
  • $2.2 million received by Brazos-Sabine Consortium
