The Dayton Economic Development Corporation (DEDC) targets a handful of industries that align with the region’s strengths and can contribute to the prosperity and economic well-being of the community.
Metal Manufacturing & Recycling:
Dayton is home to a number of fabricators and manufactures including Sumiden Wire, Colgan Industries, Insteel Wire, Midcontinent Steel and Wire (Deacero division) and others. With our strong transportation network, strategic proximity to Houston, access to five major ports, and home to a rail-served industrial park, Dayton is well positioned to support the growth and development of the manufacturing and recycling industry.
Chemical Manufacturing:
Dayton’s proximity to Gulf Coast chemical refining industry makes it ideally situated to support chemical manufacturing industry. Businesses within this sector manufacture petrochemicals, industrial gas, inorganic and organic synthetic dyes and pigments, other inorganic chemicals, such as alkalis and chlorine, and other organic chemicals, such as ethyl alcohol.
Petrochemical:
Liberty County has a long history of energy production. With our access to Interstate-10 and our proximity to large refining complexes in Houston and Beaumont, Dayton continues to be a hub of primary employment in the energy section. Among other names, Phoenix Oil, EGF Energy Partners and Global Tubing call Dayton home.
Construction Materials:
Growth in Dayton and the surrounding area continues to drive demand for construction materials. This target industry includes those companies who supply the residential, commercial and road construction industries. Dayton is home to a number of companies operating in this space, including McCoy’s Building Supply, Cowboy’s Ready Mix and Heidelberg Materials.
Big Box Retail & Hospitality:
Dayton’s retail trade area (RTA) has experienced a 16% growth rate from 2020 to 2025. With an RTA in excess of 110,000, strong residential growth and plenty available land, Dayton’s retail landscape is poised to strengthen significantly in the future.
Transportation, Distribution & Logistics:
Located a mere 25 minutes from Interstate-10, 45 minutes from Downtown Houston, 50 minutes from the George Bush International Airport, 50 minutes from the Port of Houston and 2 hours from Lake Charles, Dayton is easily connected to major markets in Texas and Louisiana.
